Why We Do It
Valuing and supporting the early childhood workforce is our top priority. By recognizing and honoring the contributions of early childhood educators through grants, awards, and scholarships, the foundation will provide a much needed and deserved acknowledgement of the field of early childhood education with a focus on the most important element of the field, the teachers who work to provide nurturing, engaging, safe, appropriate and challenging learning environments for young children each and every day.
The importance of having high-quality, dedicated professionals supporting the growth, development and learning of North Carolina’s youngest residents goes without question. The B.H. Rowland Foundation recognizes this critical need and is dedicated to supporting the professional journey of our state’s early childhood educators. In this time our educators are feeling less valued, overworked, and often lack the resources needed to enrich programs for young children. Enhancing the professional development opportunities available to our state’s early childhood educators and supplementing funding for needed materials and supplies for their programs may work toward alleviating the high levels of turnover in the field.
In addition, the foundation is pleased to have the opportunity to honor Dr. Bobbie H. Rowland for her amazing and long-time dedication to the field of early education in NC.
