Dr. Eva Phillips

Eva Phillips has dedicated a career to the teaching of and advocating for
young children and early childhood educators. Throughout her 30+ years of
service to NC she served as a kindergarten teacher, a state-level Title 1
Preschool and Kindergarten Consultant, an assistant professor and B-K
Education Program Coordinator, and a district-level program manager for early
learning. She has collaborated on several projects supporting developmentally
effective practices including the NC Foundations for Early Learning and
Development and was co-creator and co-facilitator of The NC Power of K Teacher
Leader Initiative while at the NC Department of Public Instruction. Eva also served as president of the NC Association for the Education of Young Children from 2009-2013 and currently remains active in the work of the association. Upon retirement from the state in 2017, she began an early learning consulting business. Currently, Dr. Phillips has several ongoing consultation projects, including a collaboration with the early learning team at SERVE Center through UNC-Greensboro, a virtual professional development initiative for kindergarten and first grade teachers across Nevada and a resource for kindergarten teachers to be published by NAEYC. She is now serving as an adjunct instructor for Meredith College in the Child Development Department.
